Shea

Shea is a botanical fat from the African shea tree, used as a rich butter for deep moisture and, in its liquid “olein” fraction, as a lighter conditioning oil.
What Shea does
Shea is the ritual's deep-moisture story, and Juje uses it in two forms across three products. In the No. 4 Hair Masque, rich shea butter delivers cushioning, luxurious conditioning. In the No. 1 Clarifier and No. 3 Elixir, the lighter shea olein — the liquid fraction — conditions without weight. Same tree, tuned to each product's texture.
Under the loupe
Shea (butyrospermum parkii) is rich in fatty acids and unsaponifiables, the components that make it such a beautifully conditioning, protective fat. Whole shea butter is solid and rich; shea olein is the fractionated liquid portion, lighter and pourable. Working with both forms lets Juje dial richness up for a rinse-off masque and down for leave-on and rinse-off treatments where a lighter touch is wanted.

What's the difference between shea butter and shea olein?
Shea butter is the solid, rich form used for deep moisture in the No. 4 Hair Masque. Shea olein is the liquid fraction, lighter and used for weightless conditioning in the Clarifier and Elixir.
Is shea too heavy for the scalp?
Not the way Juje uses it. The rich butter is reserved for the rinse-off masque, while the lighter shea olein handles leave-on and cleansing steps, so richness is matched to each product.
The Ingredient Index is educational. Juje products are cosmetics intended to improve the look and feel of the scalp and hair; they are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition.
