Origin

A peptide the body already makes

It wasn’t invented so much as found — hiding in our own blood, carrying copper.

In 1973, the biochemist Loren Pickart was studying why plasma from younger donors seemed to revitalize aged liver tissue. He traced the effect to a tiny molecule in human blood: a three-amino-acid peptide — glycine, histidine, lysine — bound to a single copper ion. He named the peptide GHK, and its copper complex GHK-Cu.

It circulates naturally in our plasma, and its level falls as we age — roughly 200 nanograms per millilitre in our twenties, down to about 80 by sixty. That decline is much of why researchers have spent five decades studying what happens when it is given back.

So this is not a foreign molecule imposed on skin. It is one the body already recognises, now made pure and precise for skincare — and used by Juje for one honest, cosmetic reason: the look of a conditioned, revitalized scalp.

A blue peptide powder

Its colour is not added — it comes straight from the copper. And the copper is exactly what a formula must protect.

What it is. Copper Tripeptide-1 is supplied as a fine peptide powder whose deep blue comes directly from the copper complex. A little carries a long way — copper peptides are typically used at very low levels, from parts per million to low percentages.

The care it needs. The copper-peptide bond is the whole point, and it can be undone: strong chelators such as EDTA, and certain harsh actives, can pull the copper away or destabilise the complex. Juje formulates around that — mindful of what sits beside it, and where in the process it is added — so the copper stays bound, and blue.
